Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, 1991

Sonic the Hedgehog burst onto the video game scene with not only his trademark speed that was unseen in games at the time, but also a soundtrack that completely changed the face of the Sega Genesis, which had a history of music that lacked energy and didn’t use the full capabilities of the hardware.  Today, the Green Hill Zone music is widely recognized.
